We visited the city in May 2024 and stayed in a hotel right in the heart of the city. It was a perfect place with the seaside just a 20 minute walk from the hotel. We found the city amazing with so much to see.
We got a 2 day ticket on the sightseeing bus which we would advise to do as it is a very good way of seeing the city and you are able to get on and off the bus as many times as you wish. There were two main routes the buses take and the routes cross so you can easily get across all the city. On the bus we took they had headphones on the bus so you could listen to commentary which we thought was a good idea so if you just wanted to enjoy the scenery you were able too.
You are spoiled for choice for food and drink with so many good places to eat and drink across the city.
As we mentioned above as with most major cities just have you wits about you when you are travelling around the city as there are pickpockets
The hotel we stayed in was Hotel Paral·lel it was a basic 3 star hotel but the beds were comfortable and clean and we were able to store our luggage there while we waited for the room to be ready and they were very helpful booking at taxi for us to get to the airport on the day we left.
